Pre and postnatal Breastfeeding Check-up & Class In Charleston, SC
Did you know that the World Health Organization (WHO) & the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), amongst many other health organizations, recommend women breastfeed their children for at least 2+ years? And the average age of weaning around the world is 4.5 years but in the US only 3-6 months (not enough FMLA in our country compared to others).
That’s Amazing: breastfeeding protects mothers and babies from a variety of diseases including cancer, builds stronger bones and heart, is free, sterile, always the right temperature, easily transportable, lowers the risk of SIDS & obesity, reduces stress associated with mental disease, and protects the environment.

Prenatal Breastfeeding Plan & Schedule
We want every mother to have a successful breastfeeding journey, whether she is starting with her first baby or has older children. Any woman with a history of breastfeeding difficulties, anatomical breast concerns, or specific maternal medical conditions, who is expecting multiples or anticipates a baby with special needs should be referred for a prenatal consultation.
Postnatal Work or School and Breastfeeding Visit
Returning to work/school after having a baby can present difficulties for both mother and baby. If you plan to work outside the home after having your baby, we encourage you to come in for a consultation with your baby three to four weeks prior to returning to work.
We will go over stresses your body may encounter with your return to work, pumping management, tips to maintain milk supply, teaching others to feed the baby, tips to maintain work/life balance while embracing motherhood, and review any additional questions or concerns you have. We recommend that you bring your breast pump to this visit in case you need any assistance using it. You will receive an individual plan of care to help you meet your breastfeeding goals as you return to work.
Please note that our prenatal breastfeeding consultants are providing services in Summerville, Goose Creek, Mount Pleasant, West Ashley, Harleyville, Monks Corner, Ridgeville, Hanahan, Daniel Island, Johns Island, James Island, Conway, Cross, and Hollywood.
